Former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, says his decision to join the Nasarawa state governorship race is driven by concerns over key developmental issues, particularly in the area of security.
He made this known on Friday, while formally submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretariat in Abuja.
Adamu stated that he possesses the requisite experience and capacity to add value to the stateās development, noting that his ambition is focused on improving existing structures and addressing critical gaps.
He said his aspiration is anchored on harnessing the stateās resources to promote unity, peace, and sustainable prosperity for all residents of Nasarawa state.
āI have been privileged to serve our nation at the highest levels of responsibility. In that role, I confronted complex security challenges, strengthened institutional frameworks, and coordinated national and international policing efforts, including collaboration with INTERPOL.
āThese experiences have not only prepared me for leadership, they have tested my capacity under pressure, refined my judgment, and strengthened my belief that effective governance must be anchored on discipline, accountability, and strategic vision. I enter this race with clarity of purpose and firm conviction.
āI have served this nation faithfully; I now seek the opportunity to serve my state with the same commitment and sense of responsibility. My aspiration is therefore driven by urgent and compelling reasons.
āFirst to strengthen and sustain security across our state through a modern, intelligence-driven, and community-based approach that guarantees the safety of lives and property. Second o reposition our economy for productivity and growth by harnessing our agricultural strengthā
āThird, to invest decisively in our youth. The future of Nasarawa state lies in the energy, creativity, and resilience of our young people. Fourth, to improve access to quality education and healthcare, particularly in underserved and rural communities. Development must be inclusive, and no citizen should be left behindā
āFifth, to institutionalize a culture of transparent, accountable, and responsive governance, where public trust is earned through performance, integrity, and service deliveryā. Emphasizing that these are not mere policy statements; but commitments grounded in experience and informed by extensive engagement with the people across the state.ā
The ex- IGP Adamu therefore, commended the National leadership of the All Progressives Congress,(APC) for sustaining internal democracy and providing a fair and credible platform for all aspirants to participate in Nasarawa state, adding that the process has reflects the strength and maturity of the party.
Adamu urged all party members and fellow aspirants to conduct themselves with dignity, respect, and a shared commitment to unity. āOur differences must never weaken our collective purposeā.
