Troops kill two terrorists in Yobe

Troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade Garrison, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, have neutralised two suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists during an ambush operation in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Military sources said the operation took place at about 4:00 p.m. on May 27, following credible intelligence on the movement of suspected insurgents around Kasaicia village, along the Damaturu–Buni Yadi road.

This was disclosed in a Special Situation Report released by Headquarters, Sector 2, Operation HADIN KAI, under Operation Desert Sanity V.

According to the report, the exercise which led to the killing of the insurgents is part of ongoing counterterrorism operations aimed at ridding communities of terrorist elements and disrupting their activities, which have continued to disturb and disrupt the daily lives of residents in affected areas.

The sources further confirmed that two AK-47 rifles and empty magazines were recovered from the scene.

They added that the security situation in the area remains fluid, while troops maintain high morale and operational effectiveness.
