Two soldiers attached to 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have been reported dead following a road traffic accident in Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State.
As gathered, the two soldiers were said to be riding bicycle when the car lost control and crushed them along 74 Road in the area.
On Sunday, The Guild learnt that the accident occurred yesterday, prompting the troops to responded to reports of the accident on the road.
The victims were immediately evacuated to the 63 Brigade Medical Centre for treatment but were confirmed dead on arrival by medical personnel.
Following the incident, the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash was apprehended by security personnel.
Sources said the suspect was subjected to drug tests and reportedly tested positive for cannabis and cocaine.
The suspect has since been handed over to the 63 Provost Company for further investigation and necessary action.
Meanwhile, the remains of the deceased soldiers have been deposited at the morgue of the Asaba Specialist Hospital pending further arrangements.
Authorities have commenced investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
