The Sokoto state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has kicked against alleged suspension by the Wike-led faction of the party, describing the action as null and void.
He described the action as âunconstitutional, illegal null and void which cannot stand, because we were duly elected through the congress of the party attended by delegates, INEC and relevant security agenciesâ.
âWe have not finished serving our four-year tenure and we have not done anything that will warrant our alleged suspension.
âWe can only be removed by a court of law. We were elected in October 2024 and our tenure will end in October 2028,â he said.
He reiterated that nobody can remove them from office as leaders of the PDP in Sokoto State.
Goronyo said he only saw their suspension on social media that a caretaker committee has been formed for the state.
It could be recalled that the Wike-led faction of the PDP had purportedly dissolved the Sokoto State Executive Committee of the party and consequently deployed a caretaker committee.
Blueprint gathered that the caretaker committee has Hon. Hayatu Tafiya as Chairman, with Alhaji Ahmed S. Pawa as Secretary.
The letter that directed the dissolution of the executives and the appointment of the caretaker committee was dated April 27, 2026, signed by Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, National Publicity Secretary.
