MTN Nigeria has restored its XtraTime airtime loan service, bringing relief to millions of subscribers who rely on the facility to stay connected when they run out of airtime.
The service had been suspended following compliance directives from the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), temporarily affecting both airtime and data credit services.
MTN explained that XtraTime allows eligible customers to borrow airtime and repay the loan upon their next recharge.
The suspension had sparked concerns among subscribers who depend on the service for urgent communication, particularly during emergencies.
Confirming the restoration on Thursday, the telecom operator assured customers that the service was once again available.
Subscribers also received text messages notifying them of the development, stating “Good news! Airtime loan is back! You can now borrow up to N1,295 by dialing *303# and stay connected.”
The restoration reflects MTN’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted connectivity while complying with regulatory requirements.
The company reaffirmed that XtraTime remains an important service for customers, providing quick access to airtime whenever they need it most.
