PDP unveils Turaki, others as caretaker committee members

The factional National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, backed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has ratified the appointment of a 13-member Caretaker Committee headed by Tanimu Turaki, SAN, as chairman.

The motion was moved by Edo State PDP Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, and seconded by ex officio member Clement Fagboyede.

The committee includes Taofeek Arapaja as National Secretary, alongside Daniel Ambrose, Hamza Abuya, Ihediwa, Isah Abubakar, Theophilus Dakashan, Ini Ememobong, Aribisala Adewale Idowu, Baru Shaffi, and Okechukwu Obiechina.

The meeting held in Abuja on Monday, in Abuja, was convened to address the ongoing PDP leadership crisis and provide a temporary structure for reconciliation.

It wasa earlier reported that the Makinde camp would formally unveil Turaki as head of the caretaker committee.

Party leaders expressed confidence that the caretaker committee would stabilise the party and pave the way for unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
