BTO centre congratulates new NANS president

The BTO Centre for Youth & Leadership Development has congratulated the newly elected National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, (NANS), Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, describing his emergence as a fresh burden of leadership at a critical time for Nigerian students.

In a statement signed by its Team Leader and aide to the Minister of Interior on Youth & Students Affairs Daniel Ifon Samuel, the Centre said the development signals a new phase in student politics, where expectations are high and patience is thin among millions of students across the country.

It noted that the victory comes with heavy responsibility, stressing that issues such as poor funding of education, and worsening welfare conditions cannot be handled with rhetoric or ceremonial engagement.

The Centre urged the new leadership to close ranks across geopolitical divides and ensure that all institutions and zones are carried along in decision-making, advising that division within the student body would weaken advocacy.

It further called for firm but constructive engagement with government authorities and education stakeholders, insisting that the time for passive representation is over, as students demand measurable results.

The statement also reaffirmed the readiness of the BTO Centre for Youth & Leadership Development to collaborate with the new NANS leadership in driving youth development, peace, and reforms in the education sector.
