The Nationwide Drug Legislation Enforcement Company (NDLEA) has destroyed a Hashish farm at Uwet, Akamkpa, Cross River state, and recovered 119kg of hemp.
Peter Bisong, the deputy commander of narcotics, said this in an interview in Calabar Tuesday.
Hashish are flowering crops used to provide hemp fiber, however usually abused and used as psychoactive substance.
Bisong stated one suspect had been apprehended in reference to the farm.
He stated the NDLEA carried out the operation in collaboration with troops of the Nigerian Military 13 Brigade, Calabar.
The NDLEA official stated the operation adopted credible intelligence from members of the general public regarding unlawful hashish cultivation within the space.
“The farm is about six hectares in measurement, the road worth of the drug destroyed within the farm is greater than N500 million,” he stated.
Bisong added that the company would prolong its investigation to hint the homeowners of the farm so as to stamp out unlawful cultivation of hashish.
