The Sultan of Sokoto and President Common Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’advert Abubakar lll, Thursday suggested Muslims within the nation to search for the brand new moon of Zulki’ida 1447 AH starting from Friday, April 17, 2026 and report its sighting to nearest district head for onward communication to the Sultan.

The press launch reads: “That is to tell the Muslims Ummah that Friday being seventeenth April 2026 which is equal to twenty ninth day of Shawwal 1447 AH shall be the day to search for new moon of Zulki’ida 1447 AH
“Muslims are due to this fact suggested to begin in search of the new moon of Zulki’ida 1447 on Friday and report its sighting to nearest district or village head for onward communication to His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto and President Common Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Nigeria , Alhaji Muhammad Sa’advert Abubakar mni CFR.”
Zulki’ida is the eleventh month within the Islamic calendar.
