HIV, TB control: Reps’ panel insists on periodic implementation plans, restart $4.6bn grants probe 

The House of Representatives Committee on Infectious Diseases has vowed to insist on periodic plan of grants implementation by principal recipients of donations in support for the control of Tuberculosis, Malaria and HIV/AIDS.

The committee is investigating the alleged receipt of about $4.6 billion and the utilisation between 2021 and 2025 from Global Fund and the USAID.

At the resumed hearing Wednesday in Abuja, chairman of the committee, Amobi Ogah, said going forward, the National Assembly will request the submission of all implementation plans by principal recipients and implementing partners of Global Fund grants in Nigeria to the parliament for approval.

While commending the Global Fund and all international partners for their support, he said: “We also expect quarterly reports of the activities of all recipients and sub-recipients, and key implementing partners.”
