Nigeria Unveils Main Radar Improve, Counter-Drone Protect To Defend Airspace
The Federal Authorities has introduced a sweeping plan to overtake aviation and airspace safety, unveiling main radar upgrades and the deployment of superior counter-drone techniques throughout the nation.
In an announcement posted on X on Wednesday, the Presidency mentioned the nation has moved to strengthen aviation and airspace safety.
In accordance with the assertion, the initiative will contain “main upgrades to radar techniques and the deployment of superior counter-drone applied sciences,” geared toward reinforcing nationwide safety and modernising airspace administration.
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo mentioned the improve “will lengthen radar protection past the present 5,000-foot restrict and introduce counter-UAV techniques, together with jammers, to guard airports and Nigerian Air Drive bases nationwide.”
The Ministry additional disclosed that “ongoing discussions with Qatar’s Barzan Holdings will combine world-class command, management, and surveillance techniques into Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure, in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Drive.”
Officers mentioned the partnership is designed “to enhance threat detection, construct native capability, strengthen nationwide safety, and advance technological improvement within the administration of Nigeria’s airspace.”
The event alerts a renewed push by the Federal Authorities to tighten airspace monitoring and deploy trendy defence applied sciences amid rising safety considerations.
