Staff members from Ondo State’s tertiary institutions have given Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa a 14-day ultimatum to address their exclusion from the state’s 2024 national minimum wage structure. The aggrieved staff, under the Joint Action Committee (JAC), expressed their dissatisfaction with the state government’s failure to include them in the wage adjustments that civil servants in other sectors have already received.
In a formal letter sent to the governor on Monday, the staff pointed out that institutions like Adekunle Ajasin University, Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, and Rufus Giwa Polytechnic were left out of the wage hike despite similar roles within the state government. They emphasized the financial struggles caused by this exclusion, particularly with the rising cost of living.
