Meta ventures into AI-Powered humanoid robotics

Meta is establishing a new division within its Reality Labs unit to develop AI-powered humanoid robots designed to assist with physical tasks, according to an internal company memo seen by Reuters on Friday.


The Facebook parent company is entering the competitive humanoid robotics field, joining rivals such as Nvidia-backed Figure AI and Tesla, as advanced AI models drive innovation in automation.


In the memo, Meta Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth stated that the robotics product group would focus on research and development of consumer humanoid robots, leveraging Meta’s AI platform, Llama. Llama powers a growing suite of generative AI products across Meta’s platforms.
