The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the outcome of its review regarding the petition for the recall of the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District. In a press release issued on Thursday, April 3, 2025, the Commission confirmed that the petition did not meet the necessary constitutional requirements for further action.

INEC conducted a thorough review of the signatures and thumbprints submitted by the petitioners, as outlined in the Commission’s Regulations and Guidelines for Recall 2024. The review aimed to ensure that the petition complied with the provisions of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which mandates that a recall petition must be supported by signatures from more than half of the registered voters in the constituency.
