Two of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s top ministers have threatened to resign over the proposed ceasefire deal in the Gaza war. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Minister of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism Amichai Chikli have expressed strong opposition to the deal, citing concerns that it would undermine Israel’s achievements in the war.
Ben-Gvir has described the deal as “irresponsible” and “reckless,” stating that it would release hundreds of Palestinian militants and withdraw Israeli forces from strategic areas in Gaza, leaving Hamas undefeated. Chikli has also threatened to resign if Israel withdraws from the Philadelphi corridor, as outlined in phase one of the ceasefire deal.
