According to Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu, emergency calls reporting the fire were received through the agency’s toll-free lines around 00.09hrs. LASEMA promptly activated its emergency response plans, dispatching a team from its Cappa Base that arrived at the scene by 00.16hrs.
Upon investigation, officials discovered that a warehouse and surrounding shops had been engulfed by flames. The fire was attributed to an electric power surge that occurred after public electricity supply was restored to the area.
While no injuries or casualties were reported, the blaze destroyed valuable merchandise including electronics, generating sets, bicycles, auto spare parts, phones, and home appliances. Following the incident, LASEMA officials conducted safety awareness sessions with warehouse occupants to prevent future occurrences.
