In a recent revelation, Nasir El-Rufai, the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, has asserted that his support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2023 election was not driven by personal gain.
El-Rufai, who was a key figure among the Northern governors of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), had been a staunch advocate for a Southerner to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the party’s primary election. This stance ultimately led to Bola Tinubu’s emergence as the party’s candidate and subsequent victory over Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).
