Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday and her former partner, Ekiti politician and philanthropist Opeyemi Falegan, have apologised to each other during a live video session, years after their highly publicised relationship ended in a bitter separation.
The former couple exchanged apologies during a TikTok Live session on Saturday, where they revisited their troubled relationship, the circumstances surrounding their 2022 breakup and the disagreements that played out publicly on social media.
During the conversation, Nkechi maintained that Falegan needed to apologise for some of his past comments about her, particularly remarks he made during an earlier social media Live session following their separation.
The actress said the comments had continued to haunt her years after their relationship ended, explaining that some social media users still relied on the old remarks to ridicule and insult her.
She recalled telling Falegan in February that the consequences of his actions had remained with her, stressing that the internet never forgets things once they become public.
“I told you something in February that if you must, you see what’s because of what you did five years ago, some irrelevant nitwits, they used to use it to insult me yesterday. That is to tell you the internet never forgets,” she said.
Nkechi also recalled how she had defended Falegan against criticism on social media despite their differences, saying she had intervened in comment sections of videos where people accused him of wrongdoing.
According to her, she had gone as far as telling critics that the individual they were accusing of allegedly defrauding them was not the person they claimed he was.
Her comments suggested that despite the bitterness surrounding their breakup, she had not completely abandoned her willingness to defend him when she believed he was being unfairly accused.
Falegan, who listened to the actress during the conversation, also offered an apology, marking an attempt by both parties to address some of the issues that had remained unresolved since their separation.
Their exchange brought renewed attention to their 2022 breakup, which generated widespread reactions after both parties took their disagreements to social media and made public statements about their relationship.
