The PDP in Cross River has officially made Chief Francis Bullem the permanent leader in the state, replacing the former chairman, Vanatius Ikem, who resigned in October 2026.

The party also pledged loyalty to its national leader, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, and endorsed his Rainbow Coalition.

Reporters stated that the decisions came from a communiqué issued after the party’s State Executive Committee, SEC, met on Thursday at its secretariat in Calabar.

The statement was signed by State Publicity Secretary Mike Ojisi.

The committee accepted the resignation of former state chairman Venatius Ikem.

It then approved Bullem’s nomination and confirmed him as chairman under the party’s constitution.

Ikem resigned from the PDP on October 16, citing internal divisions, poor direction and weak leadership.

The committee described Wike as the party’s national leader and endorsed the Rainbow Coalition he leads.

The SEC also raised concern over repeated attacks on PDP members and members of other opposition parties during lawful political activity.

It condemned the attacks and said members must be free to take part in politics.

It called for an environment where parties can operate without intimidation or harassment.
