Ballon d’Or Winner Harry Kane Extends Bayern Munich Contract Until 2029

England captain Harry Kane has signed a two-year contract extension with Bayern Munich, committing his future to the German champions until June 30, 2029.

The club announced the agreement on Thursday, November 5, 2026, confirming that the 33-year-old striker will remain in Munich after recently winning the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

Kane joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 and has scored 156 goals in 161 competitive appearances for the club.

Speaking after signing the new deal, Kane said he felt at home at Bayern and was pleased to continue his career with the club.

“I feel right at home at FC Bayern. I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager,” he said.

He added that his family was happy in Munich and that he was looking forward to winning more trophies with the club.

Kane’s success since joining Bayern

Kane arrived in Germany in search of major team honours after spending more than a decade at Tottenham without winning a major senior trophy.

Since his move, he has helped Bayern secure two Bundesliga titles, the German Cup and two German Super Cup trophies.

The Champions League, however, remains a major target for the England international, with Bayern reaching the semi-finals twice during his time at the club.

His individual achievements have also continued to grow. Kane won the 2026 men’s Ballon d’Or in London, becoming the first Englishman to receive the award since Michael Owen in 2001.

He also became the first Bayern Munich player to win the honour since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981, finishing ahead of France captain Kylian Mbappé and Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal.

In September, Kane became the fastest player in Bundesliga history to reach 100 goals, achieving the milestone in just 98 appearances.

Bayern delighted to retain Ballon d’Or winner

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund welcomed the contract extension, describing Kane as an important player, leader and influence within the squad.

Freund said the club was delighted to continue working with the striker, praising his contributions both on and off the pitch.

The club’s chief executive, Jan-Christian Dreesen, also described the agreement as an important commitment to Bayern’s future, saying Kane had established himself as a key figure since arriving in 2023.

Reports from Germany indicated that negotiations had been ongoing since August, with the length of the new contract among the main issues discussed.

Kane’s focus shifts towards more Bayern trophies

Although Kane had previously spoken about the possibility of returning to the Premier League, his commitment to Bayern has become increasingly clear.

In an interview with FourFourTwo magazine in August, he said his desire to return to English football had reduced since moving to Germany.

Kane explained that life in Munich had introduced him to a different football environment and increased his appreciation of European football.

He also pointed to his family’s happiness in the city and the quality of Bayern’s squad as important reasons for remaining at the club.

During the 2025/26 campaign, Kane scored 61 goals for Bayern and 12 for England, taking his total to 73 across club and international football.

Only Lionel Messi, who scored 82 goals during the 2011/12 season, recorded a higher calendar-season total this century, according to the supplied report.

Kane also thanked his Bayern teammates during his Ballon d’Or acceptance speech, crediting their support and competition for helping him achieve the individual honour.

Bayern completed a domestic league and cup double last season and also reached the Champions League semi-finals, where Paris Saint-Germain advanced after winning 6-5 on aggregate.

With his future now settled, Kane will continue leading Bayern’s attack as the club pursues further domestic and European success.
