Bala Mohammed warns APM candidate against calling Tinubu govt ‘useless’

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Saturday cautioned a senatorial candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) against describing President Bola Tinubu’s administration as useless during the party’s campaign flag-off in Bauchi.

The incident, which sparked mild drama at the rally, occurred at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium when the candidate called for the removal of the Tinubu-led government and urged Nigerians to “flush out these useless people”.

Mohammed, who was present at the event, immediately interrupted the candidate, warning him against using such language.

“Don’t call them useless,” the governor said.

The governor subsequently called on Nigerians to support the APM presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing him as a leader capable of promoting fairness, equity and inclusiveness.

He said a Makinde-led administration would ensure that federal appointments, opportunities and resources were distributed fairly among the country’s ethnic and religious groups, in accordance with federal character principles and merit.

Mohammed disclosed that more than 100,000 positions would be available for appointments, insisting that no ethnic group or region would monopolise the opportunities.

“There are over 100,000 positions to be filled. It will not be filled by one tribe alone. It will not be skewed to one tribe alone. There will be balance. There will be federal character and there will be selection based on merit, putting square pegs in square holes,” he said.

He described Makinde’s proposed Reset Nigeria Agenda as a product of extensive consultations and professional contributions, expressing confidence that it would provide solutions to the country’s governance challenges.
