Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued three female abductees unharmed following a confrontation with their abductors in Plateau State.
The rescued victims were identified as Fatigi Aguna, 19, Lovina Bawa, 18, and Barsheba Appolos, 18.
The rescue followed a search-and-rescue operation during which troops reportedly tracked down the kidnappers after receiving information about the abduction.
However, the Kidnappers fled into a nearby bush after encountering the advancing security personnel, abandoning their captives.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at Makundang village, Mangor District, in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Thursday.
Meanwhile, upon receiving information of the abduction, troops of Sector 5 of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) launched an immediate response, which led to their rescue last night.
Confirming the development on Saturday, the spokesperson for Operation Enduring Peace, Captain Polycarp Oteh, said the operation reflected ongoing efforts by security personnel to protect lives and property across the joint operations area.
Oteh also commended residents for their cooperation with security agencies, urging them to sustain their support by providing credible and timely information that could assist ongoing security operations.
He further advised members of the public to remain alert and report suspicious movements to the appropriate authorities.
Oteh stressed that community participation was essential to addressing security threats and restoring lasting peace in the affected communities.
