Kenya Airways confirmed Wednesday that a passenger died aboard a Nairobi-to-Lagos flight shortly before landing at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), according to a statement released on the airline’s official X account.
Kenya Airways said the incident occurred about 9.20 p.m., on Tuesday, when the passenger was found unresponsive about 20 minutes before the aircraft landed in Lagos.
The airline said its crew administered first aid in line with their training and followed established emergency procedures.
According to airline, the aircraft landed at the MMIA at 9.41 p.m., where it was met by medical personnel.
The medical personnel subsequently confirmed that the passenger had died.
“Kenya Airways is providing the necessary support in close coordination with the deceased’s family, local authorities, and aviation regulators,” the airline said.
The airline expressed its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, while respecting the privacy and dignity of those involved.
Kenya Airways also apologised for any inconvenience the incident might have caused.
The deceased passenger has been taken to an undisclosed morgue in Lagos.
