Oyo gov. appoints journalist as public affairs adviser

The Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has appointed veteran journalist and public affairs commentator, Amos Dunia, as Special Adviser on Public Affairs ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, is aimed at strengthening the communications team of the Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation as it intensifies preparations for the election.

The campaign organisation disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja by its Director of Strategic Communications, Richard Ihediwa.

According to the statement on Friday, Dunia is expected to play a key role in communicating the campaign’s “Reset Nigeria” message and coordinating with other media professionals involved in the presidential campaign.

The organisation said his appointment was informed by his extensive experience, professional capacity and networks developed over decades in journalism, public communication and media management.

It described Dunia as a seasoned journalist, public commentator, communication expert and publisher whose experience would contribute to the campaign’s media and public engagement strategy.

The statement added that, as a key spokesperson, Dunia would work alongside other members of the campaign’s communications team to articulate the APM’s agenda and engage Nigerians ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The campaign organisation quoted Makinde as charging members of the campaign, party leaders, supporters and Nigerians to remain committed to what it described as a collective effort to place the country on a path of economic prosperity, national cohesion and political stability.

“I charge all members of the Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign, leaders, teeming members, supporters of the APM and indeed all Nigerians to remain steadfast in the collective quest to use the 2027 Presidential election to reset and put our nation back on the path of stability, national cohesion and economic prosperity,” the campaign organisation stated.

Dunia, a former chieftain of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), brings decades of experience spanning print and broadcast journalism.

His professional career includes work with prominent media organisations such as the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and The Sun, alongside his roles as a public commentator and media practitioner.

His appointment comes as the Makinde-Daura campaign seeks to expand its communications structure and project its “Reset Nigeria” message to voters across the country ahead of the 2027 presidential election
