Kenya Airways passenger dies after medical emergency on Lagos flight

A passenger on board a Kenya Airways flight from Nairobi to Lagos has died after experiencing a medical emergency shortly before the aircraft landed in Lagos.

The incident occurred at about 9:20pm Nigerian time, with the passenger reportedly becoming unresponsive approximately 20 minutes before the aircraft landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The airline’s crew administered first aid in line with their training and followed the required emergency procedures.

The aircraft landed at the airport at about 9:41pm, where it was met by medical personnel who, after further examination, confirmed that the passenger had died.

Reacting to the incident on Wednesday, Kenya Airways’ Corporate Communications department expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, while apologising to other passengers for any inconvenience caused by the incident.

The airline noted that it upholds and respects the privacy and dignity of everyone involved in the incident.

Kenya Airways added that it is providing the necessary support in coordination with the deceased’s family, local authorities and aviation regulators.

The statement read partly, “We convey our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and apologise for any inconvenience this incident may have caused.

“We uphold and respect the privacy and dignity for all involved.Kenya Airways is providing the necessary support in close coordination with the deceased’s family, local authorities, and aviation regulators.”
