Katsina gov. signs N828.58bn 2027 appropriation bill into law

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has signed the state’s ₦828.58 billion 2027 Appropriation Bill into law, setting the framework for government spending and development programmes for the fiscal year.

The bill provides ₦190.73 billion for recurrent expenditure and ₦637.85 billion for capital expenditure, with the larger allocation directed towards capital projects and development initiatives across the state.

Radda signed the bill during a ceremony held at the Red Chamber of the Katsina Government House on Wednesday.

Speaking at the event, the governor said the budget was developed through a transparent three-stage process designed to incorporate public input and ensure legislative scrutiny.

According to him, the process began as a “people’s budget,” after which ministries, departments and agencies defended their respective proposals before the State House of Assembly subjected the bill to further scrutiny and subsequently passed it in line with its constitutional responsibilities.

Radda commended the lawmakers for the speedy consideration and passage of the appropriation bill, describing their commitment to completing the process within the available timeframe as commendable.

The governor directed government ministries, departments and agencies responsible for implementation to ensure the prompt execution of projects and programmes captured in the budget.

He urged the implementing agencies to prioritise projects with direct impact on residents, stressing the need for efficient use of public resources to improve the living conditions of people across the state.
