CNS Spikers, NSCDC set for 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League final phase

Defending men’s champions CNS Spikers will face NSCDC in one of the headline fixtures as the final phase of the 2026 Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League gets underway in Abuja on October 16.

The decisive phase will be played at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, with Nigeria’s leading volleyball clubs returning to compete for the league title. The latest schedule puts the championship phase from October 16 to 29.

CNS Spikers, representing the Chief of Naval Staff, enter the championship phase as defending men’s champions. They will face NSCDC in a meeting expected to attract significant attention on the opening day.

Nigeria Customs Service will also begin its campaign against Ajase Ipo after finishing the first phase at the top of the men’s standings. NCS recorded a perfect 36 points from 12 matches, winning all of its games, and will be seeking to convert that strong first-phase performance into the league title after narrowly missing out last season.

Other men’s fixtures on the opening day include a meeting between two-time champions Offa VC and the Nigeria Police Force, while Nigeria Correctional Service will take on second-placed COAS Spikers.

Former champions Kano Pillars are scheduled to face Life Camp VC, while Sunshine Spikers will meet the 2025 National Division One champions.

The women’s competition will also feature several established sides. Defending champions Nigeria Customs Service are set to begin their title defence against NAF Rockets, while former champions CNS Spikers will meet Benue Queens.

Other women’s fixtures include Excelsior Angels against Olalomi Royal Angels, Anambra Queens against Kada Emeralds, Life Camp VC against Fire Service, and NSCDC against VIP & Partners VC.

CNS Spikers arrive at the final phase with a strong record from the earlier stage of the competition. The champions were pushed to the limit on the opening day of the league in June, eventually defeating Defence Spikers 3-2 in a five-set contest at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.

The Naval side also defeated COAS Spikers 3-1 during the first phase, handing their opponents their first defeat of the season at the time. NSCDC, meanwhile, recorded a 3-1 victory over Nigeria Correctional Service during the same stage.

With the league now entering its decisive phase, attention will turn to whether NCS can maintain its first-phase dominance, whether CNS Spikers can successfully defend its title, and which of the other contenders can mount a challenge for the championship.

The final phase is expected to bring together the leading men’s and women’s teams for the concluding battle for honours in the 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League.
