Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has congratulated the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, on his 70th birthday, describing him as a prominent son of the state who has contributed to Nigeria’s development.
In a birthday message issued in Ado Ekiti by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, Oyebanji praised Alake’s career in journalism, public service and government.
The governor said the minister had contributed to the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly through efforts aimed at strengthening non-oil revenue.
Oyebanji also highlighted Alake’s background in journalism and communication, saying he used his professional platform to advocate for human rights and democratic development.
According to the governor, Alake played a significant role in the struggle for the restoration of democracy during Nigeria’s years of military rule, particularly through his media advocacy.
The governor further praised Alake’s career progression from reporter and editor to media manager, administrator and public servant.
Before becoming Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Alake served as Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Lagos State and later as Special Adviser on Communication to the President.
Oyebanji said Alake’s achievements had continued to project Ekiti positively, adding that the state would remain proud of his contributions to its development.
“Ekiti will always be proud of the minister for positively projecting the image of the state and contributing to its growth and development,” the governor said.
The Ekiti governor also wished Alake continued good health and wisdom as he marks the milestone birthday and continues his public service.
“On behalf of the government and good people of Ekiti State, I congratulate my dear brother, the Honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr Dele Alake, as he turns 70 today,” Oyebanji said.
