Stepping back from the music industry spotlight, Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile has shifted his focus toward his family, fashion empire, and personal brand—quietly reversing a career path many assumed was in decline.
Findings by Per Second News showed that while his musical presence appeared to have taken a back seat, Zlatan was far from inactive, quietly expanding other aspects of his life and business while maintaining a strong connection with his core fan base.
The music star reportedly got engaged quietly to his longtime girlfriend and has since welcomed two children, keeping much of his family life away from the intense public attention that often follows Nigerian celebrities.
In a simple response to Per Second News WhatsApp message to him, the singer said:”If you have stayed long in the business of music, you will choose your noise carefully and hit the headlines for the right moments”.
Away from music, Zlatan also devoted considerable attention to his clothing line and fashion business, with his Lekki store gradually becoming another centre of attraction for celebrities and entertainment personalities.
Rather than chase headlines, he has frequently used the fashion business to remain connected to the entertainment community, welcoming top Nigerian artistes to his Lekki store and sharing moments with them with his followers.
But while Zlatan appeared quieter musically, he never completely disappeared from social media.
His regular interaction with fans, playful posts and carefully timed appearances have helped him maintain visibility, even at a period when some music followers questioned whether the rapper could regain the momentum that once made him one of Nigeria’s most talked-about street-pop acts.
That narrative, however, appears to be changing.
In recent days, Zlatan has resurfaced more aggressively, generating conversations not only with his social media activities but also with hints of new music and collaborations with some of the biggest names in the Nigerian music industry.
One of the biggest talking points came after the rapper flaunted what appeared to be an account balance of about ₦500 million, triggering reactions online and prompting fellow artiste Portable to publicly question the source of his wealth.
Rather than engage in a prolonged explanation over the controversial display, Zlatan appeared to move on, directing attention back to what he does best: music and entertainment.
Per Second News gathered that the rapper has been teasing fans with indications of more music and collaborative projects involving artistes including Davido, Fola and Bella Shmurda, among others.
For Zlatan, the return appears calculated rather than accidental. While he stepped back from the centre of the music conversation, he continued building his family, fashion business and digital relationship with his audience.
Now, with fresh collaborations reportedly in the works and his social media activity once again generating headlines, Zlatan appears ready to remind the industry that his absence from the front pages was never the same thing as an exit from the game.
