WOMEN earned 83 cents for every one dollar earned by men globally in 2025, according to the ‘Workplace Gender Gap’ report by Orodata Science.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Workplace Gender Gap’ report was obtained from the official X handle of Orodata Science on Friday in Lagos.
The report highlighted persistent gender disparities in workforce participation, leadership, senior roles, STEM and political representation.
It showed that women accounted for 41.2 per cent of the global workforce in 2025, representing the highest share among the indicators presented.
It however noted that women’s representation declined across leadership, senior roles, political participation and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
The report indicated that women accounted for 36.2 per cent of hiring into leadership roles globally.
It also showed that women occupied 30.8 per cent of senior roles, while their representation in parliaments stood at 31 per cent.
According to the data, women represented 29.5 per cent of the global STEM workforce, the lowest figure among the workforce and representation indicators presented.
The data also highlighted gender disparities in earnings, showing that women earned 83 cents for every one dollar earned by men.
It explained that gender pay gaps could be measured using controlled and uncontrolled approaches.
The controlled gender pay gap compares the median salaries of men and women with the same job and qualifications.
The uncontrolled gender pay gap compares the median salaries of all men and women across sectors and industries, regardless of location and qualification.
The report placed the 2025 uncontrolled gender pay gap at 0.83, indicating that women’s median earnings remained below men’s across the broader workforce.
It said representation and pay remained connected components of the global gender gap, with women underrepresented in several areas of employment and leadership.
The figures provide a snapshot of women’s participation in the global workforce and highlight differences in representation across leadership, political participation and STEM. (NAN)
