Nigerian content creator Adebayo Ridwan Abidemi, popularly known as Isbae U, has revealed how he developed his popular interview series, Curiosity Made Me Ask, after deciding to move beyond skit-making.
Isbae U shared the story during an interview with media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown on The Morayo Show, published on YouTube on Wednesday.
The content creator said he went through different creative phases, including singing, rapping and acting, while trying to determine the type of entertainment he wanted to pursue.
According to him, he eventually became determined to create a format that would distinguish him from conventional skit creators.
He recalled reaching a point where he wanted to stop being viewed as just another skit maker and develop an idea of his own.
Isbae U said the concept for Curiosity Made Me Ask became clearer after he remembered an American comedy interview series, Between Two Ferns, hosted by comedian Zach Galifianakis.
He explained that watching the show convinced him that a similarly unconventional interview format was something he could develop in his own way.
Since launching Curiosity Made Me Ask, Isbae U has interviewed a range of prominent personalities, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, actor Pete Edochie and entertainer Charly Boy.
He said the programme was designed to show audiences a side of public figures that they might not normally see through traditional interviews.
Rather than focusing solely on conventional questions about their careers, Isbae U uses the format to create unusual conversations that allow guests to reveal different aspects of their personalities.
The content creator also admitted that he sometimes gets nervous before interviewing older or more established personalities.

He said, however, that many of the personalities he has approached have welcomed him and encouraged him to remain himself during the conversations.
His recent interview with former President Obasanjo generated considerable attention online and became one of the show’s notable episodes.
Despite his growing association with the interview series, Isbae U said he has not completely abandoned other forms of content creation.
He revealed that he has continued working behind the scenes, including writing stories for other creators and helping them develop their content.
Isbae U added that he plans to explore more creative ideas rather than limiting himself to one format.
For him, Curiosity Made Me Ask represents one stage of a wider effort to find his identity as a creator and develop content that stands apart from what he has done previously.
