President Bola Tinubu has departed Paris following his working vacation and is en route to Lagos, where he will touch down at Murtala Muhammed International Airport later this evening.
His decision to make Lagos his first stop is a direct tribute to Chief MKO Abiola, the winner of the historic June 12, 1993 presidential election and a pivotal figure in Nigeria’s fight for democracy.
On Independence Day, the President will attend the premiere of a movie honouring Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
While in the city, he will hold several days of strategic talks with political leaders and associates as he prepares for the 2027 elections.
PerSecondNews reported that Tinubu left Abuja on 30 August and spent one week in London before heading to Paris.
In Paris, he attended a private dinner with President Emmanuel Macron and met business leaders, including Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group.
Bolloré’s media and digital interests cover Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group. On Monday Tinubu also met First Holdings Chairman Femi Otedola.
Last week the President witnessed an MoU between the Ogun State Government and DP World for a Gateway deep seaport at Ogun Waterside.
The deal also covers a Blue Marine Economic Zone. DP World, a leading global ports operator, plans a $7 billion investment in both projects.
After his political engagements in Lagos, President Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja.
