No fewer than six persons have been confirmed dead and two others sustained varying degrees of injuries in a road accident on the Kabba-Odo-Ape road in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The crash, which involved a truck and a commercial vehicle, was attributed by the the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to speeding.

The Kogi Sector Commander of the FRSC, Lawal Fagge, who confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with newsmen on Sunday, disclosed that the tragedy occurred yesterday and that residents of Odo-Ape helped rescue the survivors.

“It is unfortunate that six persons lost their lives, while two others sustained varying degrees of injuries as a result of the tragic incident involving a truck and another vehicle along the Kabba-Odo-Ape Road.

“We will continue to advise motorists to avoid speeding, unnecessary overtaking and desist from driving while fatigued. This is very important in preventing road crashes,” he added.
