The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has relieved one of his aides, Special Legislative Aide (SLA) Umar Alhassan, popularly known as King Indara, of his appointment over a social media post calling for the removal of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Indara, a popular Kano TikToker, was sacked barely 24 hours after posting a comment on his social media account, supporting an online protest against the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf.
On Saturday, it was learnt that in another part of the post made on the social media, the lawmakers aide stated that Kano is for the Nigeran Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who was a former governor in the state.
Meanwhile, the former aide stressed that the support for the NDC candidate does not affect his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The dismissal was announced in a statement issued by Barau’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Shitu Kunchi.
According to the statement, Indara was relieved of his appointment over what it described as indiscipline and disrespect towards Governor Yusuf.
It said the post was contrary to the values of respect and decorum upheld by the office of the Deputy President of the Senate and inconsistent with the principles of the APC.
The statement further said the decision was in line with Senator Barau’s position that members of the APC should support the party from the national level down to the grassroots.
Indara’s appointment was formally terminated on September 18, 2026.
