Police arrests Lagos businessman over fake alcohol production

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 48-year-old man, Anaebo Hilary, and sealed a suspected illegal factory allegedly used to produce adulterated alcoholic drinks in Yafin, Badagry.

The operation was carried out as part of the command’s efforts to curb criminal activities and protect residents from products suspected to pose health and safety risks.

Confirming the development on Thursday, the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, said the arrest followed credible information about the man’s alleged activities in the area.

She said police operatives recovered quantities of suspected adulterated alcoholic drinks, empty bottles, various wine labels and production utensils allegedly used to produce, package and distribute the drinks.

The recovered items have been taken to the police station as investigators work to establish the source of the products and their intended distribution channels.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their vigilance and prompt response to the information received.

Fatai reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations to disrupt criminal activities and other unlawful operations across the state.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to the police through the command’s emergency lines, saying public cooperation was essential to strengthening security and tackling crime across Lagos.
