The Plateau State House of Assembly has confirmed three nominees for the Plateau State House of Assembly Service Commission and the Plateau State Water Sector Regulatory Commission.
Among the nominees confirmed were Titus Alams as Chairman of the Plateau State House of Assembly Service Commission, Deshi Joseph as a member of the commission and Stella Buge as Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Water Sector Regulatory Commission.
The nominees were confirmed during plenary at the Assembly Complex in Jos on Tuesday after they were screened by the lawmakers on their suitability for the respective positions.
Speaking after the confirmation, the Speaker of the Assembly, Naanlong Gapyil, urged the appointees to uphold the mandate of the commissions and discharge their responsibilities with diligence, commitment and dedication to the growth and development of Plateau State.
Gapyil also urged them to bring their experience to bear on their assignments, stressing the need for hard work and effective service delivery.
Meanwhile, the Assembly passed for second reading a bill seeking to alter the 1999 Constitution to provide for the establishment of a State Police Service and related matters.
The lawmakers also passed for first reading a bill seeking to prohibit and prevent all forms of quackery in various professions, ensure public safety in Plateau State and provide for related matters.
A bill seeking to establish the Plateau State Indigenous Language Development Commission also passed first reading, while another bill seeking to make entrepreneurship education compulsory in all secondary schools in the state equally passed first reading.
The Assembly further passed for second reading a bill seeking to repeal and re-enact the College of Education, Gindiri Law, 1988, and establish the Plateau State College of Education, Gindiri, with provisions for its governance, administration, academic management, funding and other related matters.
