Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi has said Nyesom Wike looked healthier and happier when they worked together earlier in their political careers.
Obi and Wike previously interacted when Obi was Anambra State governor and Wike served as Minister of State for Education between 2011 and 2014.
During that time, Wike visited Anambra to inspect and open educational projects that Obi’s administration had done, including renovated secondary schools.
When asked to respond to recent comments Wike has made against him and his presidential bid, Obi said he had nothing against the former Rivers State governor.
However, he noted that Wike appeared much healthier and happier when they were working together.
Obi said that looking at old pictures of Wike from that period showed a man who was enjoying life.
He added that sometimes having too much money does not guarantee happiness.
Wike has repeatedly said that Obi will never become president of Nigeria.
But Obi insisted he remains friends with Wike and has nothing against him.
For the 2027 election, Wike has backed APC candidate and incumbent President Bola Tinubu, whom he also worked with in 2023.
Wike now serves as minister in Tinubu’s administration.
