Obi shared his condolences Thursday on social media after Jacobs’ family announced his passing the previous day.
Obi highlighted Jacobs’ lasting impact on Nigeria’s film and creative world, noting his career spanned multiple decades working in both Britain and Nigeria.
He said the actor’s life demonstrated the power of talent, discipline and commitment to one’s craft.
The former Anambra governor used the moment to reflect on mortality and responsibility.
He said Jacobs’ death was a reminder that time on earth is limited and that whatever role people hold in society, they must give their absolute best and ensure others benefit from their abilities and expertise.
Obi extended his sympathies to Jacobs’ family, friends and colleagues in the creative community.
He closed with a prayer for eternal rest for the late actor and strength for those grieving his loss.
