Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, President of LoveWorld, has used a global broadcast that draws billions of participants across more than 150 countries on all continents to condemn what he described as “unjust laws” capable of restricting free speech and hindering the spread of the gospel.
Pastor Chris made the call on Thursday, September 10, 2026, during Season 12, Phase 4, Day 2 of his Your Loveworld Specials, where he urged Christians worldwide to intensify prayers and take action against legislation they believe threatens fundamental freedoms.
Speaking during the programme, Pastor Chris addressed alleged restrictions on freedom of expression while presenting a documentary titled Hate Speech Deception.
He argued that some laws enacted under the guise of combating hate speech could be used to suppress opinions that governments or authorities consider unacceptable.
“Free speech is not free if it is censored by the various pretentious laws in several countries,” he said.
The President of LoveWorld questioned why people should face sanctions simply for holding views that differ from prevailing positions on issues such as climate change, arguing that disagreement should not automatically constitute an offence.
Pastor Chris drew parallels between contemporary legislation and biblical accounts of oppressive decrees, citing the story of Queen Esther and a royal order for the destruction of Jews in the Persian Empire.
According to him, Esther’s decision to intervene after learning of the decree demonstrated the responsibility of believers to act when the rights and freedoms of others are threatened.
He urged Christians not to remain silent when confronted with policies they consider unjust, stressing that prayer must remain central to their response.

“When you face a situation that you call serious… if you lose your right to free speech in your country, that will come with severe consequences,” he said.
Pastor Chris also revisited his criticism of government responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly lockdowns and vaccine mandates, questioning the rationale behind some of the measures.
He called on Christians to remain vigilant about government policies that could affect individual freedoms and the ability of churches to carry out their evangelistic responsibilities.
Pastor Chris subsequently called for sustained fasting and prayer for nations facing what he described as oppressive legislation.
Using the biblical account of King Hezekiah, he said believers should turn to God with deep conviction when confronted by seemingly overwhelming circumstances.
He also cited Apostle Paul’s teachings on prayer, saying Christians should sometimes pray from a position of deep spiritual conviction when they are uncertain about what specifically to ask God for.
The President of LoveWorld specifically mentioned Canada, urging Christians in the country to organise periods of fasting and prayer over policies and legislation he believes could hinder the Christian faith.
He cautioned Christians against making political parties or individual leaders the primary focus of their prayers, saying believers should instead seek God’s will for their nations.
According to him, evangelism remains the central responsibility of the church, and Christians must continue spreading the gospel even in environments they consider hostile.
He urged believers to regard themselves as spiritual “soldiers,” whose responsibility extends beyond personal comfort to advancing the interests of God’s kingdom.
Pastor Chris announced a global fasting exercise scheduled for September 26 and 27, with participants expected to focus their prayers on nations around the world.
“We are going to set our attention on all the nations of the world,” he said, urging Christians to pray against forces he believes are seeking to frustrate the spread of Christianity.
He concluded by encouraging participants in the global broadcast to remain confident in their faith and continue praying for their respective nations, declaring: “The Lord is with us mighty and strong.”
