Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has begun efforts to reconcile aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the party’s recent primaries.
The governor directed the immediate formation of a reconciliation committee to engage affected members, listen to their grievances and work towards restoring unity within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Abiodun gave the directive on Monday during a meeting with APC leaders and stakeholders in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area, where he said the committee would be chaired by Chief Olu Okuboyejo, with former Deputy Governor Yetunde Onanuga and state commissioners as members.
He further ordered the establishment of similar committees at the ward and local government levels, saying the reconciliation exercise should extend to every part of the party and ensure that aggrieved members were not left out.
Abiodun said members who contested the primaries but failed to secure the party’s tickets remained valuable to the APC, urging leaders to reach out to them and restore their confidence in the party.
“I want us to set up a reconciliation committee in Ijebu-Ode because I know that we have some of our members who are still angry. I want us to be aggressive about that reconciliation,” the governor said.
He also called for efforts to expand the party’s membership by welcoming people from opposition parties, while urging APC leaders to focus their campaigns on issues and the record of governance at the state and federal levels.
The governor later held similar meetings with APC leaders in Ijebu-North East and Odogbolu Local Government Areas, as the party continues its mobilisation and internal engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
