A 38-year-old university graduate, Oje Eje, has been allegedly beaten to death by his neighbour, Edebiri Temitope, in Mowe, Ogun State.
The suspect reportedly attacked Eje with a bamboo stick after becoming angry over the victim’s interaction with his three-year-old child.
The incident occurred in Mowe following an encounter between Eje and the suspect’s child, during which the deceased was said to have hugged and played with the toddler.
According to the police, Temitope considered the interaction between his son and Eje to be “rough play” and became infuriated.
The police said the suspect allegedly grabbed a bamboo stick and repeatedly struck Eje, resulting in his death.
Following the incident, Temitope allegedly fled with his family and was declared wanted in connection with the death.
However, the police later apprehended the 43-year-old suspect, according to the command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, in a statement issued on Friday.
Babaseyi said Temitope had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
The police spokesperson said the command would continue its investigation into the circumstances surrounding Eje’s death and take appropriate action based on its findings.
