The Niger State Police Command has arrested a suspected vandal, Hassan Isa, over alleged housebreaking, vandalism and theft in the state.
Isa was arrested by personnel attached to the Tudun-Wada Division during a routine patrol around the High Point area.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement issued on Friday, the suspect was arrested after officers sighted him carrying a sack on his head.
Abiodun said the officers intercepted Isa and searched the sack, recovering five security lights suspected to have been vandalised.
The police spokesperson said Isa could not provide a satisfactory explanation for the items in his possession, leading to his immediate arrest.
“The suspect was immediately arrested and is currently in custody undergoing interrogation,” Abiodun said.
He added that the suspect would be charged to court after the completion of the police investigation.
