Massive youth support ‘ll earn Makinde landslide victory in 2027 – APM

ALLIED Peoples Movement (APM) says the popularity of its presidential candidate, Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, especially among young people, is a pointer to the party’s impending victory in the 2027 presidential election.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, in a statement issued Monday in Abuja, the widespread backing was a reflection of the deep public trust in Makinde’s capacity.
Yusuf described Makinde’s history of standing with young people during critical national moments as a core driver of his youth appeal.
“Nigerians know those who truly care for them. They can differentiate between mere election rhetoric and genuine commitment, devotion and capacity to serve.
“This explains why the Nigerian youth population is massively queuing behind Gov. Makinde as a leader and president they can trust to drive the Nigeria of their dream,” he said.
Yusuf pointed to Makinde’s ‘visible solidarity’ during the 2020 EndSARS protests where he personally joined demonstrators and instructed security agencies to protect their right to peaceful assembly as a defining testament to his leadership.
He also recalled the governor’s vocal opposition to the Federal Government’s ban on X (formerly Twitter) in June 2021 as proof of his dedication to protecting youth livelihoods and digital commerce.
Yusuf noted that central to APM’s electoral platform was Makinde’s ‘Reset Nigeria Agenda’, which, he said, offered a national paradigm shift focused on transparency, accountability and economic inclusion.
“Nigerians recognise that the Reset Nigeria Agenda guarantees a nation where leaders are service-driven, open and accountable, and where the views of the people are respected and valued instead of being suppressed,” he said.
While expressing gratitude for the outpouring of grassroots support, the APM spokesman said it was actively strengthening the party’s national structures to protect its votes.
He called on citizens to remain vigilant ahead of the polls and utilise every legal means to safeguard the Makinde-Daura ticket’s mandate against what he called anti-democratic resistance.(NAN)
