Relief has arrived for candidates locked out of their registered phone numbers or email addresses.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially eased restrictions, allowing candidates to swap their registered SIM cards and change email addresses starting Monday, September 21, 2026.
JAMB announced the development in a post on its official X account on Monday, stating that the service is available only at designated CBT (PTC/PRC) Centres, including State Offices where applicable.
“The option is available only to candidates with genuine cases involving loss of access to their registered SIM or email account,” it noted.
“Candidates seeking the service are required to have their new GSM number and/or email address, as well as a duly executed Court Affidavit, scanned and ready for upload.”
The Board specified that the service can be accessed only once and is subject to strict identity and biometric verification.
It warned candidates against patronising unauthorised persons or channels, directing them to use only the designated centres.
Step-By-Step Guide On How To Change Your Registered SIM Or Email
Candidates are required to log into their JAMB e-Facility using their existing credentials, Registration Number or Profile Code.
They should select “SIM Swap/eMail Change Payment” and pay the prescribed fee.
After payment, candidates should proceed to a designated JAMB CBT (PTC/PRC) Centre and access the “SIM Swap/eMail Change Quicklink.”
They are then required to enter their Profile Code or existing GSM number and select “Fetch Details.”
Candidates must complete their biometric verification before selecting the required service — GSM only, Email only, or Both.
They should enter the new GSM number and/or email address and upload the scanned Court Affidavit.
The process is completed by clicking “Update,” after which a confirmation message will appear if the request is successful.
