Cristiano Ronaldo has been included in Portugal’s squad for their upcoming international fixtures as new head coach Jorge Jesus begins his tenure with the national team.
The call-up confirms that the veteran forward remains part of Portugal’s plans as Jesus takes charge of the side.
Ronaldo remains Portugal’s all-time leading goalscorer and most-capped player, and his inclusion gives Jesus the opportunity to work with one of the most experienced members of the squad.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the selection on Friday, posting on X that Ronaldo would continue with Portugal and had been called up by Jesus for the upcoming matches.
Portugal are scheduled to begin their 2026/27 UEFA Nations League campaign on September 24, when they host Wales.
The European champions will then travel to face Norway on September 27 before an away meeting with Denmark on October 1.
Their fourth group-stage fixture will come on October 4, when Portugal host Norway.
The final two matches of the group phase are scheduled for November, with Portugal travelling to Denmark on November 14 before visiting Wales three days later.
Portugal have been drawn in League A, Group 4 alongside Wales, Norway and Denmark.
Ronaldo’s presence will therefore continue to be part of Portugal’s Nations League campaign as Jesus begins his work with the national team.
