itel Breaks Silence After Fake Explosion Image Sparks Online Buzz

Technology company itel has warned that it may take legal action against individuals who use AI-generated images and fabricated content to spread false claims about its products.

The warning followed the circulation of an artificial intelligence-generated image on social media that was presented as showing an itel Power Tank exploding after allegedly being overcharged.

itel rejected the claim, describing the image and the scenario surrounding it as fabricated.

In a disclaimer shared on X on Wednesday, the company said it welcomes genuine criticism and feedback from customers but would not tolerate deliberate attempts to damage its reputation through false or manipulated content.

itel said individuals who intentionally misrepresent the company through fabricated images, manipulated materials or malicious claims could face legal action.

The controversy started after an X user identified as Enori shared the AI-generated image and claimed that an itel Power Tank had exploded.

The post gained attention on the platform before it was deleted. The user later apologised and acknowledged that both the image and the alleged incident had been generated using AI.

Enori also accepted responsibility for the misinformation and the confusion caused by the post.

Following the incident, itel Energy and related company accounts warned users against circulating the image, maintaining that it did not represent a genuine incident involving an itel Power Tank.

The Power Tank is a portable power station sold by itel as a backup electricity solution. The product uses lithium iron phosphate battery technology and comes with safety systems designed to provide protection against issues including overheating, overvoltage, overload and short circuits.

There is no verified evidence from the information provided that an itel Power Tank was involved in the explosion depicted in the viral image.
