Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has explained why she rejected her reported inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress campaign council, saying she was listed without her knowledge and has no interest in politics.
Abraham clarified her position on Friday while responding to an X user who suggested that distancing herself from the campaign council could prevent further online attacks against her.
The actress said her decision was unrelated to criticism from social media users.
According to Abraham, she only became aware of the reported appointment after seeing her name on the published list.
She also reiterated that she had previously stated that she did not want to participate in politics.
“Moreover, I’ve already said it—I’m not interested in politics,” Abraham wrote while thanking the user for the support.
Her comments followed an earlier statement in which she publicly rejected the reported inclusion of her name in the Lagos APC campaign council.
Abraham said she was not a member of any campaign council and asked the public to disregard reports suggesting otherwise.
Her name appeared among members of the council’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate alongside entertainers including Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun and Bukky Wright. The directorate is headed by Toke Benson-Awoyinka, with Kosoko as Co-Director and Badmus as Deputy Director.
The Lagos APC released the campaign council structure ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the entertainment directorate forming part of the wider campaign organisation.
Abraham’s latest position comes three years after she publicly supported President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, a move that generated significant criticism against her on social media.

Despite Abraham’s rejection, her name remains on the published list as a member of the 33-person Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate. The actress has, however, publicly stated that she did not consent to the reported inclusion and intends to stay out of politics.
