“I am the man of this house” — Husband tells bride to submit car to him

A newly married couple reportedly became embroiled in a disagreement just hours after their wedding after the bride received a car as a gift from her brother.

According to a lady who shared the story, the vehicle was presented to the bride during the wedding reception, drawing excitement from those present.

The bride’s brother reportedly handed the keys directly to his sister and congratulated her. However, what appeared to be a joyful wedding gift allegedly became a source of disagreement when the newlyweds returned home.

Husband demands keys to bride’s wedding gift

The narrator claimed that the husband became upset and questioned why the car keys had been handed to his wife rather than to him.

Initially believing he was joking, the bride reportedly realised he was serious when he insisted that he should be the one using the vehicle.

The husband told her, “I am the man of this house. I will be the one driving this car to work.”

The bride reportedly reminded him that the vehicle had been specifically gifted to her by her brother and refused to surrender the keys.

Following her refusal, the husband allegedly demanded that she either return the vehicle or sell it and bring the proceeds home.

Wedding-day car gift sparks marital disagreement

The bride again refused, prompting her husband to accuse her of disrespecting him only hours into their marriage.

The disagreement reportedly left the newlyweds at odds over who should control the vehicle despite it being presented directly to the bride.

The account has raised questions about ownership, boundaries and financial expectations between couples, particularly regarding personal gifts received after marriage.
