A former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Bosun Arebuwa, has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Arebuwa, who sought the PDP governorship ticket for the 2024 Ondo State governorship election, defected to the APC alongside other members of the opposition party and his supporters.
The defection took place on Friday at the International Culture and Event Centre in Akure, the Ondo State capital, where Arebuwa formally declared his membership of the ruling party.
Speaking at the ceremony, Arebuwa said his decision was influenced by what he described as the performance of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He said his political structure comprised supporters across more than 3,000 political units and 203 wards in the 18 local government areas of the state.
Arebuwa said he would deploy his experience and resources to support Tinubu and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said, “We have left the PDP and want to join hands with others to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term. We are ready to use all we have to support him.”
Receiving the defectors on behalf of the Ondo APC leadership, Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, urged them to return to their respective wards and local government areas to mobilise support for the party.
Oke described Arebuwa’s defection as an addition to the party’s political activities in the state.
