The Egbin Power has disclosed that plans are set to offer academic scholarship to students in Lagos State as parts of its 2026 annual programme put up to facilitate quality and conducive educational experience for pupils from the area.
The power company held that the initiative, with the theme, ‘Sustainable Development Goal’, SDG, 4, would witness pupils benefit in the educational support programme, fashioned at creating meaningful opportunities for young people as well as ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education alongside promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Through the provision established as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, the firm held that the beneficiaries would be selected from the 250 schoolchildren who participated in the scholarship program process.
According to the firm, we aimed to help the beneficiaries who have been selected from primary and secondary schools across Egbin’s host communities to also be put through on education fair, boot camp, mentorship sessions and playground activities which have all been designed to bolster the participants’ academic performance as well as develop them on essential life skills, discipline, confidence and leadership qualities.
In a communique released by Egbin Power on Tuesday, its Chief Executive Officer, Mokhtar Bonour, stated that the body values the power in education in shaping the future of today’s children.
“As a responsible organisation, we remain committed to accelerating development around us. Education is one of the most powerful and sustainable ways to create that impact, and our scholarship programme is a deliberate investment in the future of our communities.
“At Egbin Power, we believe our responsibility goes beyond generating electricity. We also have a responsibility to help generate opportunities, nurture potential and enable dreams. Through this programme, we are investing in young people who will become the leaders, professionals and change-makers of tomorrow.
“The legacy we want to build is one of lasting value where quality education becomes a foundation for individual progress, stronger communities and a better society. This is our commitment to shared success,” Bounour said.
Bounour urged parents and guardians of the students to continually play an active role in the programme, provide valuable support and serve as partners in the educational development in ensuring progress of the participating students.
He mentioned that the power company would ceaselessly implement impactful corporate social responsibility initiatives in healthcare, community infrastructure, youth empowerment as well as capital development in its host communities, serving as a catalyst for opportunity creation, development and shared prosperity.
